Also known as the Borreg0? Should they bring it to the States? You think this would work as a viable competitor for the 4runner?
Just launched in Korea this week

So this is the new Bor rego? Much better name this time around.

It’s the Borrego!

This looks like a better concept than the Telluride on many fronts, plus it looks better...

Not all diesels are good engines. Just saying.

Is this not just a facelift/new grill for the Mohave they’ve made since 2008 (which was sold in the US for one year only)?

Wow, so they are going to actually build the product the Big 3 have neglected to build for 40 years?
I’m stunned.

I don’t know all the information is in Korean. Haven’t seen any English sites cover this

Pronounced “Moe-JAV”

Exactly. Just like OSX 10.14

BTW, I wonder what VIN Number prefix code the new Kias will be built under...

It’s sort of like an automotive mullet. 2019 up front, 2009 in the back
Really nice dash though

There has been talk of the Hyundai Group doing a BOF dual cab ute to compete with Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux etc in Asian and Australian markets. And it would follow that a wagon version would exist (as it does with Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Isuzu...to name a few).
However, fellow Korean maker SsangYong (owned by Mahindra) also has a BOF dual cab but unlike all the others it is actually based on the wagon rather than the other way round (having sat in one recently, there is a real benefit in terms of passenger comfort!) . The SsangYong Rexton spawned the latest Musso dual cabs and they are reportedly popular in their home market. And they are quite cheap in Oz too despite being Korean made.
So there is a cultural basis for the Hyundai Group to do the same thing.

They used to sell the Borrego here. You could even get it with a V8 I think.
It didn’t sell so well.

Bring it KIA!

You mean this
I would totally drive one, especially with the Tau. It tried and failed to do for SUV’s what the Genesis did for mid-level luxury, but in that vein they’re pretty capable and offer shitloads of value.

What? the Explorer, Durango, and Trailblazer/Envoy were body-on-frame, a lot more recently than 40 years ago.

Diesel? No.

So what? Diesel is effectively dead in the US for anything other than HD pickups. it’s not “neglect” to refuse to waste money trying to sell something nobody wants.

Not sure what you are “on” about. The diesel Suburbans are still highly prized and they haven’t been built for decades. There’s always been a demand for a three row SUV with a diesel for towing and off-road. Detroit never built it so I guess the Koreans will.
Retail prices for grey market JDM Land Cruisers with the diesel are sky-high. There is a market.

I don’t think your case is strengthened by pointing to “sky high” prices of rare vehicles. a handful of people paying a lot of money for grey market LanCrus or the small number of surviving GMT400s doesn’t mean there’s any significant demand for a new one.
and in case you didn’t notice, Kia isn’t planning on selling this thing in the US so clearly they don’t see a market here either.
